WASHINGTON, Aug.12 (Reuters) – U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai and South Korea’s Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo on Thursday discussed supply chain resilience efforts, tackling climate change and reform of the World Trade Organization, the USTR said in a statement.
In a virtual meeting, the two officials “agreed on the importance of a strong bilateral trade relationship between the United States and Korea and pledged to maintain an open dialogue going forward,” the statement added. .

The two countries pledged to deepen their economic and security ties during White House talks between US President Joe Biden and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in May. Read more
The United States and South Korea have said they will work to increase existing semiconductor supplies for the global auto industry and support semiconductor manufacturing in both countries.
They also agreed to cooperate closely on World Trade Organization reforms and work together to end all forms of new public funding for coal-fired power plants abroad.
