The Auditor General has requested the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to make resources available for the completion of abandoned projects.
According to the Auditor General’s 2020 report, several GNPC projects costing more than $ 9 million have not progressed over a period of time.
To prevent these investments from being wasted, the Auditor General advised the GNPC leadership to release funds and complete the blocked projects.
“A number of GNPC projects totaling US $ 9,552,178 and GH ¢ 976,673 appear to have been stalled, but with little progress over time. We recommended that management review the cash flow situation and ensure that resources are available to complete the projects, ”states part of the Auditor General’s 2020 report.
The Auditor General further reveals that although GNPC recorded an incidence of cyber attacks during the previous year (2017), no vulnerability and penetration testing was performed during fiscal 2018.
The Auditor General advised GNPC management to ensure the continued performance of vulnerability and penetration testing in order to identify possible vulnerabilities in internal network security and to strengthen network security accordingly.
