SNV Ghana organizes GREEn job fair in Kumawu

SNV Ghana, an international non-profit organization under the Stimulation of Jobs and Green Business Opportunities (GrEEn) Project, in collaboration with the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly, organized a trade fair for the employment in Kumawu.

The fair, which is the fourth of its kind in the Ashanti region since January 2021, was designed to create jobs for young people and expose them to favorable circumstances in the green sector.

Held at Kumawu Presbyterian Base School on Monday August 16, 2021, the event brought together employers, entrepreneurs and job seekers to promote job opportunities, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Speaking to this reporter, SNV Ghana Skills Development Advisor Ms. Gifty Afi Cudjoe explained that the SNV Green Project is implementing a four-year joint project with the United Nations Capital Development Fund. (UNCDF) with funding from the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Participants were given green opportunities in the country to guide their career choices, she said.

The career fair also serves as a platform to prepare a skilled workforce through employability sessions such as resume writing, job description analysis and cover letter.

She added that the project is being implemented in the West and Ashanti regions, to tackle the root causes of irregular migration by supporting the sustainable and climate resilient local economy, green and decent jobs. as well as businesses in the departure, transit and return regions.

“Inadequate career guidance, guidance and preparation make many young people unable to identify and take advantage of existing opportunities, even at the district level,” she noted.

She congratulated all the exhibitors who presented their products at the fair and other stakeholders for dedicating their time to be part of this success.

A tutor at Tweneboa Kodua High School, who is also Constituency Secretary for the New Patriotic Party NPP in the region, Hon.Fredua Agyeman, delivering a speech on behalf of the District Chief Executive urged young people to adopt the (GrEEn) project as it could help to become better people in society.
