Netflix has released four new action-packed images from the upcoming prequel to the anime Witcher The Witcher: Nightmare of The Wolf.
Netflix has released a set of exciting new images from The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare, which highlight some of the action-packed moments from the upcoming animated film. Release scheduled for August 23 The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare departs from the main protagonist of The witcher franchise, Geralt of Rivia, instead focusing on his mentor, Vesemir. Set many years before Geralt was born, the film will act as an official prequel to The witcher TV show, featuring an original story that has only been mentioned before in Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of novels which The witcher the franchise is based on.
Created by the talent of Studio Mir, who has worked on a large number of lively properties, including The Legend of Korra, Boondocks and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will feature the adventures of Vesemir during his youth as a less experienced witcher as he roams monsters for cash. With Theo James, who previously voiced Hector on Netflix Castlevania An anime adaptation, the film will challenge Vesemir’s morality, as a dangerous new power rises on the continent. The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare will also feature new characters, including Lara Pulver as Tetra, Graham McTavish as Deglan, Mary McDonnell as Lady Zerbst and Tom Canton as Filavandrel.
Shortly after the release of a trailer for The witcher: the wolf’s nightmare, Netflix unveiled new footage from the film. These images showcase a selection of action-packed moments that fans can look forward to when the film is released next. Check them out below:

The first image displayed shows Vesemir riding on the back of a werewolf, presenting one of the fantastic and very dangerous creatures in the lore of The witcher, while the second image shows Vesemir using the Witcher Igni sign, which is used to produce a burst of fire. Another Witcher sign can be seen in the fourth image, as it shows Vesemir throwing an Aard sign during combat, which produces a telekinetic wave to push enemies back. Along with Vesemir, Tetra’s power as a witch is also highlighted in these images, as she can be seen casting a powerful spell during combat.
From these images, it is clear that magic and witchcraft will have a prominent role within the The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare. Highlighting Vesemir’s use of the Witcher signs, it looks like Netflix has listened to fan reviews of the first season of The witcher, where many were disappointed that Geralt’s Witcher’s signs had not been used enough. However, it can also come from using the medium of animation rather than live action. Typically, animation allows for more freedom and creativity during its action sequences, resulting in more spectacular uses of magic throughout, as can be seen here. With the second season of The witcher slated for release on December 17, 2021, it will be interesting to see if more magical elements will be included in the coming season, and more importantly, how Vesemir will be introduced to the live-action world.
