Husband and daughter of carving bar operator Pokuase Interchange released on bail

The husband and daughter of the woman who was captured operating a “chop-bar” under the Pokuase interchange were arrested by the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.

Kwame Addo, 60, who is the husband, was apprehended alongside his daughter Comfort Dartey during a police operation.

The woman reportedly fled after news of her sidewalk activity became a national topic of speech.

DSP Juliana Obeng, public relations manager at Gretaer Accra’s regional command, confirmed the arrest to Citi News and revealed that they had been released on bail.

“There are two people who were arrested and taken to the regional command. The two people are a father and a daughter, and they were arrested in connection with a “chop bar” operated by these two people. Their names are Comfort Dartey, 32, and Father Kwame Addo, a 60-year-old man.

She further noted that Kwame Addo and his daughter who were apprehended for public nuisance were warned and forced to sign a commitment of good behavior.

“They were released on bail, but they were warned for causing public nuisance. We hope to see them tomorrow and we will continue our investigation, ”added DSP Juliana Obeng.

Police and other municipal task force teams were forced to storm Pokuase after a video went viral of a woman operating a fufu business around the facility.

The video raised concerns about the attitude of Ghanaians towards the maintenance of these facilities and intensified calls for punitive measures to be taken against all those who trade on the sidewalks of the capital.
