A 30-year-old woman residing at Diabene New Site, near Sekondi, made allegations against the founder and chief pastor of the El-Shadai outreach ministry in Anaji, near Takoradi.
According to Regina Ankrah, Bishop Jude Nana Kwame Sarpong had sex with her while she was married and became pregnant and gave birth to a male child.
She said, however, that the pastor allegedly refused to take care of the child and did not marry her as promised.
So she took the pastor to court for arrears and breaking his promise to marry her.
In her court statement, Regina Ankrah said that around 2014 she was introduced to church by her ex-husband who was then her fiancé.
The complainant said that upon joining the church, the pastor prophesied to her that she was spiritually married to her late father and that, moreover, she would not be successful in any marriage unless she was exorcised.
She said she believed in prophecy because she had two issues with two different men without marriage.
As per the prophecy, the defendant took the plaintiff through certain spiritual rituals which resulted in the pastor sleeping with her as part of the deliverance process at a hotel in Kumasi, just a week before the plaintiff’s wedding and of her fiancé.
The woman claimed that she could not believe that she was sleeping with the accused and suspected that the pastor, during the deliverance, had cast a spell on her which allowed the accused to have sex with her.
She mentioned in the statement that she married her fiance on November 15, 2015 in the same church, with the pastor playing a central role in her wedding ceremony.
The woman said her sexual escapades with the pastor after her marriage had not ceased, but was forced to have multiple sexual activities with the accused over a period of four years, all under the guise of deliverance.
The complainant mentioned that as part of the deliverance, the respondent asked her not to allow her husband to sleep with her as it would have a negative effect on the husband, and she complied.
As proof of her determination to marry the complainant, the pastor gave her a promise ring with instructions to replace it with her wedding ring, which she obliged, resulting in serious misunderstandings between the complainant and the husband.
The complainant said that after four years of adultery she became pregnant and since the husband was not responsible, he (the husband) took the case to court for the divorce which was granted.
The woman said the pastor did not deny responsibility for the pregnancy and asked the complainant not to worry, and promised to marry her after the divorce.
The pastor and his uncle approached the complainant’s family to acknowledge the paternity of the child and presented a name to give to the child.
She said that the pastor subsequently maintained the house by giving the plaintiff GH ¢ 500.00 per month for her maintenance and that of the child.
She added that plans were underway for the parties to marry until their relationship turned sour when the pastor allegedly began to neglect the plaintiff and his child, which led the plaintiff to send the case back to court. courts.
The case is currently before Takoradi Circuit B Court in the Western Region.
