Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) sponsored the ‘Ghana Center of the world’ golf tournament, which culminated on Saturday with an exciting day of play at the new ‘Center of the World Golf Club’ in Tema.

The tournament, organized by the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, is a tournament open to all golfers from Ghana and West Africa.

This year’s tournament, dubbed the “Version 3.0” edition, is part of a larger initiative by the ministry and its agencies (including the GTDC) to celebrate and establish the “Ghana as Center of the World” brand.

The play of the day was started by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mark Okraku-Mantey, who was ably supported by Kwesi Okoh, Director of the Board of Directors of UMB and Felix Awuku, Executive Director of the Bank .

Other dignitaries on the starting platform included Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) CEO Akwasi Agyeman; CEO of GTDC, Kojo Antwi and managers of the Center of the World golf club.

At the end of the tournament, Emos Kwablah emerged as the winner of the tournament for the professional golfers category, Augustine Manasseh winning a trophy, which was presented to him by Nana Dwemoh Benneh, CEO of UMB, for the amateur category “Men’s Scratch” .

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, UMB Executive Director Nana Dwemoh Benneh said: “We are proud of our heritage in Ghana, which began in 1972.

This sponsorship allows us to continue our deep involvement in the development of the tourism sector in Ghana.

The golf tournament, which is structured as an open, has attracted over 160 golfers for amateur competition, and over forty-eight professional golfers have also registered to participate in the three-day tournament.
