The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Ghana, in partnership with the United States Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the 2021 US-Ghana Business Forum – a high-level conference between U.S. and Ghanaian government officials and private sector leaders aimed at to deepen Ghanaian-US trade partnerships as well as US-Africa trade relations in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The theme of the 2021 US-Ghana Business Forum is: Promoting US-Ghana Partnership Through Trade and Investment. – the largest free trade area in the world in terms of the number of countries comprising 1.3 billion inhabitants and approximately 3,400 billion dollars of GDP.
The program of the September 8 forume and 9e, 2021 will be virtual. It will have plenary sessions with senior officials as speakers; and panel discussions on relevant topics including technology and digitization, energy and mining, infrastructure, manufacturing, services and franchising.
The expected speakers at the forum are Alan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry; Constance Hamilton, US Deputy Trade Representative for Africa; Ayesha Bedwei, President, American Chamber of Commerce-Ghana; Scott Eisner, President, US-Africa Business Center; Stephanie S. Sullivan, US Ambassador to Ghana; Hajia Alima Mahama, Ambassador of Ghana to the United States; and Yofi Grant, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center.
The 2021 forum aims to strengthen trade and investment, promote trade partnerships and opportunities between the United States and Ghana, as well as review trade within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area ( AfCFTA) and assess how US and Ghanaian companies can take advantage of this opportunity.
At the end of the conference, it is expected that the business partnership between the United States and Ghana will be projected and strengthened, focused on improving the investment climate in Ghana and on the African continent. Participants will be informed about the latest trade and investment trends on the continent and will have the opportunity to share their experiences and identify specific investment opportunities for future transactions.
