Emma Raducanu is yet to lose a set at this year’s US Open as she reached the third round with an impressive victory over experienced Zhang Shuai
British teenager Emma Raducanu continued her dream run at the US Open with another impressive straight-set victory. This time on the Chinese Zhang Shuai to reach the third round from his debut.
The 18-year-old has shown poise beyond her years to get revenge on China’s No.1, who beat her at the Silicon Valley Classic in August, with a stunning 6-2 6-4 win. .
Raducanu continued his remarkable run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon in July with another outstanding performance at a major tournament.
The Bromley right-hander was determined to give her seasoned rival a better game after improving in the weeks that followed, having completed three qualifying rounds and claiming her first main draw victory in New York against Stefanie Vogele.

Qualifying Raducanu is one win away from tying his run at Wimbledon in July
Raducanu got off to a whirlwind start on a sun-drenched Short 10 after Wednesday night’s strong wind and torrential downpours caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
The world No.150 collapsed in Game 1 and looked perfectly accomplished on serve building a 3-1 lead.

Zhang, 32, made a frustrated figure and was simply feeding off the leftovers as Raducanu took a 4-0 lead.
But her opponent eventually halted the teenager’s momentum with a three-game streak in a row, though the teenager responded with a superb grip to move away from a game of victory.
Zhang was keen to apply pressure on Raducanu, but the Briton remained calm and gathered to get the job done and arranged a third round meeting with another of the 2021 formers. Sara Sorribes Tormo after the Spaniard beat Su-Wei Hsieh 6-1 6-3.
Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty continued her relentless winning streak
