Nana Agyei Amoako Gyampah II, Odikro of Okyerekrom, a farming community in Adansi Akrofuom District, made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to maintain his District General Manager, the Honorable Maurice Jonas Woode, for a second term.

Its appeal follows the major commissioning and handing over of two modern sanitary facilities for the residents of Okyerekrom and Akrofuom. The two installations built at a cost of 480,000 GHC were financed respectively by the Common Fund and the DPAT 3.

“So far he has stood out so well. He has been good to us, apart from these toilets he has extended electricity to this area and our children are benefiting from school feeding because of his hard work. Me and my people are calling on the president to bring him back as our DCE, ”the leader said.

He, on behalf of the people of Okyerekrom, is committed to protecting and maintaining the facility so that it stands the test of time.

Hon Maurice Jonas Woode, the DCE of Adansi Akrofuom said that since 2018, when the district was established, the Assembly has built 16 toilets with toilets in various communities to deal with the permanent sanitation problems facing the population. .

“Over the years, the people of Okyerekrom and Akrofuom have chosen unsanitary facilities as places of comfort. This prompted the Assembly to build a 12-seater W / C toilet with borehole for Okyerekrom and a 20-seater toilet with toilet and 4 bathroom for the people of Akrofuom, at a cost of 160,000 GH and 320,000 GH respectively. », He underlined.

Akrofuom DCE also called on the population to maintain the facility as it will go a long way in improving sanitation and stopping open defecation.

Yaw Sekyere, a farmer from Okyerekrom congratulated the DCE for coming to their rescue and also added his voice to the president to keep him for a second term.

“We can now breathe a sigh of relief. The stench of the old, poorly maintained facility and the dangers to users have given way to open defecation in some cases. We are happy to have a new one. now, “he added.

Afia Achiaa, a trader in Akrofuom told this reporter that he was at a loss for words to describe the feeling of having a new toilet now.

She said the women in the community had a scorching time using the old facility, but that will end with the commissioning of the new facility.
