President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Saturday, September 4, 2021, as part of his 2-day tour in the Western Region, laid the foundations for the start of reconstruction work on the Agona de 67 kilometers. Nkwanta – Tarkwa road.
Funded by a € 95 million facility from Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt, Germany, the project is expected to be completed by August 31, 2024, or 36 months.
The road project, when completed, will link Tarkwa, one of Ghana’s main economic centers, to the port city of Takoradi and to the N1 national road, which connects Ghana to Côte d’Ivoire.
It also connects the mineral-rich and agricultural lands of the West, Ashanti, North-West and Central regions to Takoradi, as it is the shortest and most efficient route for transporting l gold, manganese, bauxite, timber as well as agricultural products like cocoa, rubber and timber, in Takoradi.
Speaking at the first shovelful, President Akufo-Addo noted that the reconstruction of the road, undertaken by MM. Rango-Gabriel Couto, a 100% Ghanaian company, is part of a comprehensive action plan implemented by the government to improve roads in the Western Region and indeed in all parts of the country.
Specific to the western region, the government has embarked on the construction of the PTC interchange at Takoradi, which is the first interchange in the western part of Ghana, and is expected to be completed by June 2023.
Construction of Sekondi, Adiembra and other selected roads around Takoradi Port has been awarded, and work is expected to start in October this year, with construction of Adwofua-Osei Kojokrom also underway and 18% complete.
In addition, construction of the Elubo-Enchi road and construction of the Yamatwa-Yamatwa junction are underway and 12% complete.
Dixcove Landing Beach
In Dixcove, President Akufo-Addo inspected the work in progress on the Dixcove airstrip, a project that began construction a year ago.
With the breakwater and marine works around 90% complete, the project coordinator told the president that the reclamation and demolition work has also been completed and that onshore installations will begin in early October 2021. This work is expected to be completed. in the next 6 months.
When completed, the work will bring great relief to the fishermen and fishermen, who constitute a larger part of the population.
Other ancillary facilities that will complement the fish landing site include ice factories, water and electricity supply, washing facilities and toilets for fishermen, net repair sheds, as well as crèches and day care centers for women.
It will be recalled that during his tour in the Western Region in 2019, the President symbolically laid the foundations for the construction of eleven (11) modern landing sites along the coast.
The nine (9) other beneficiary cities are Moree, Mumford, Winneba, Senya Beraku, Gomoa Fetteh and Elmina in the central region, Teshie and James Town in the Greater Accra region and Keta in the Volta region.
Bogoso Polyclinic
In Bogoso, the President inspected the ongoing work on the construction of the 46-bed Bogoso Polyclinic, which is being built by VAMED Nederland BV.
The turnkey project started on February 4, 2020, is currently 75% complete and is expected to be completed in December 2021.
Once completed, the polyclinic will be equipped with a maternal and child health center, residential accommodation for doctors and nurses, a neonatal unit, delivery rooms, a pharmacy, a obstetrics unit, radiology center, laboratory, first aid room, emergency and recovery room. and consultation rooms.
