The West African Network of Election Observers (WANEO) called on the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to convene an extraordinary crisis meeting following the coup State in Guinea.

“WANEO respectfully wishes to call on the President of the Republic of Ghana HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the current Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the interest and importance of peace and security and an extraordinary crisis meeting with the other heads of state of ECOWAS member countries on the current political governance and the security situation in Guinea with a view to of the country’s return to constitutional democracy as soon as possible, ”in a statement from The Network signed by Executive Director Reverend Kingsley Amoah said.
WANEO says he condemns the unconstitutional takeover of the democratically elected government of the Republic of Guinea by the new military junta of the National Committee for Rallying and Development (CNRD) of Guinea.
WANEO also calls on the leadership of Guinea’s new military government, the National Committee for Rally and Development (NCRD) to immediately release the deposed and arrested President of Guinea Alpha Condé and further adopt urgent and pragmatic measures to bring back the Guinea to the Constitution. democracy in accordance with the democratic values and principles of the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance and the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, in accordance with Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Rights of the United Nations man of 1945
