North Tongu MP and minority foreign affairs spokesman Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said ousted Guinean President Alpha Condé’s peers disappointed him.
Quoting the old adage “Look not where you fell but where you stumbled”, the MP said the incidents that led to the unfortunate but successful coup revealed the African heads of state who joined in the former president to celebrate his recent victory.
“We do not approve of the coup in any way, the coups are sending us back and we do not want it,” he said, but added that his peers should have advised him against incidents that have leads to its current miserable state.
Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa noted that the story of former President Alpha Condé is quite sad as he would have emerged as one of Africa’s success stories had he not decided to put aside the constitution that had him. sent to power.
Former President Alpha Condé spent much of his life in the trenches fighting what he called human rights abuses and calling for democratic order.
His persistent fight in this regard earned him a five-year prison sentence and was pardoned after spending a year in prison.
Many Africans are sad for Mr. Condé because he was fortunate enough to become one of Africa’s greatest role models but failed.
This, the minority foreign affairs spokesperson speaking on PM Express on the JoyNews channel said the soldiers involved in the mutiny instead enjoyed such support on the streets because of the way the referendum and the the presidential election were rigged.
“Unfortunately, President Alpha Condé was the toast of his peers. They were all at his investiture, ”he said, saying that they should have advised him instead of celebrating him.
Mr. Condé was dismissed from his post on Sunday, September 5 by certain Guinean military special forces. Their leader, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, announced that the country’s constitution had been revoked following a coup.
The mutinous soldiers, however, vowed to restore democracy.
