The Kings of Saint Lucia were promisingly placed in a steep chase but soon fell
Jamaican tallawahs 211 (K Lewis 56, Royal 3-37, Alleyne 3-53) defeated Kings of Saint Lucia 156 (Imad 3-34) by 55 strokes
Lewis brought in his fifty out of 21 balls with a David Wiese single in the seventh round after earlier wreaking havoc on Jeavor Royal, Samit Patel and Roston Chase in the first four overs of play.
Lewis justified Rovman Powell’s decision to strike first as he intimidated Royal’s left arm rotation into the opening, slicing two fours on the outside side before lifting a six over the middle in the first four balls. After opening partner Kirk McKenzie hit Alzarri Joseph for three limits in the second round, Lewis got back to work on Patel in the third, punishing a leg stump line for two fours and two sixes to start over. After McKenzie fell to Chase in the fourth, Lewis regained his momentum just as quickly by ending the over with another sweep on the side chord of the leg.
The Kings were unable to recover from the two backhands as Imad’s left arm rotation and a pair of sharp exits rattled the Kings further before they were finally knocked out for 156 with 11 unused balls.
