Mr. Dan Botwe, Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, described President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as being more dedicated to the development of the nation.

He said the president shows more interest in equitable development than even in party issues and that he has positioned himself to provide for the needs of the people.

The minister was addressing the chiefs of the Oti region during a working tour of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the enclave.

The leaders of the new Region expressed their regret for not having granted the NPP a seat as promised when the Region was created.

The minister said the NPP, built on the traditions of the pre-independent United Party, and created the new regions, not for political gain.

Akufo Addo wields the executive courage necessary for leadership. Politics is about satisfying the deep aspirations of the people. In governance, if you have one with a good heart and good love.

“Yes we are politicians, but sometimes he scolds us when we do too much politics, and will say” no, the first and most important is the equitable development of the country “.

“He would say it doesn’t matter whether we get voted or not, and that’s what we’re seeing with the creation of the much sought-after region.

“So it’s true, as you said, that one thing the people of Oti could do to show their appreciation for the creation of the region is votes, but thank goodness we have lucky to have a president who does not consider this, so we will continue to do what we have to do, ”he said.

Mr. Botwe added that contrary to the point of view of political opponents, the creation of the Regions has given a boost to development and distributed resources to uninhabited areas, and so his government would continue its full development.

“I am not speaking for the president, but it is clear that he is not disappointed, and therefore the development programs that he had entrusted to us on the basis of the plan he gave us from January 2019 are what we follow to the letter. And by the grace of God, we will continue to work to glorify God so that your fruits are blessed for the benefit of all, ”said the minister.

President Akufo Addo inspected the ongoing construction of the administrative offices of the new region, distributed among the different districts.

He first opened a yam and cassava processing plant as part of the One District One Factory initiative in Adonkwanta in the municipality of Krachi East, the first in the region.

The works on the East Corridor road were also evaluated, in addition to an integrated waste treatment station for the Region.

President Akufo-Addo told the leaders of the region that negotiations for the construction of a bridge over the Oti River in Dambai are progressing successfully and that the completion of the superstructure will be his legacy.

He added that a Dambai water supply project was part of the much sought-after drinking water supply in the river enclave, in addition to efforts to address the problem of irregular power supply.
