Why was Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah arrested?

Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, is detained by the Ghana Police Service for creating “several videos containing threats, the brandishing of a weapon and assaulting certain police officers” .

According to a circular widely circulated by the Ghana Police Service, Rev. Owusu Bempah was arrested along with three other suspects, namely; Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene and Nathaniel Agyekum, on Sunday, September 13, 2021, in the premises of his church.

Police said two other suspects are currently at large and that they [police] pursue them.

Police explained that Reverend Owusu Bempah and the other three were “detained for further investigation into the creation and dissemination of several videos containing threats, the brandishing of a weapon and the assault of certain police officers.”

“After critically analyzing the said videos and on the basis of intelligence gathered, the police launched an operation on Sunday, September 12, 2021 on the premises of the church to arrest the suspects.”

The police statement added that “during the operation, some members of the church allegedly under the leadership of Rev. Owusu Bempah assaulted police officers. Injured personnel have received medical attention and are responding to treatment. “

“The suspects are currently in custody [of the police] and will appear in court on Monday, September 13, 2021, ”the statement added.

Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah and some of his junior pastors stormed the residence of converted priestess Nana Agradaa on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

The man of God and his boys claimed that Nana Agradaa threatened to pounce on Reverend Owusu Bempah wherever she met him.

Thus, the man of God decided not to wait for Nana Agradaa to throw herself on him, but to visit the priestess in her house so that she carries out her threat.

Ahead of their visit, the junior pastor in a live Facebook video threatened to show Nana Agradaa “pepper” for disrespecting their father Owusu Bempah.

While carrying out the threat, the two pastors brandished some weapons in passing.

The police then warned the public “against any act likely to disturb the peace of the country”.

“We wish to give assurances that impartial investigations will continue in this matter and that the public will be duly updated,” the police concluded in a statement signed by Kwesi Ofori, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Ag. Director General, Affairs public.
