Amazon increases stake on employer-paid education and training

Amazon announced last week that it would spend $ 1.2 billion by 2025 to expand its Career Choice program, paying 100% of tuition, fees and books for all of its U.S. employees.

The large retailer has already funded the education and training of around 50,000 of its employees through the program, which previously paid 95% of the tuition and professional training fees for a degree in high-demand fields. .

As part of the expanded program, Amazon will pay the full tuition and associated fees for associate and bachelor’s degrees at its institutional partners and for graduation from high school, as well as for the English as a second language certification. The company will also provide the funds up front rather than paying them back, as it previously did, and employees will be eligible for the program after three months with the company.

Amazon is one of many large companies that have extended their support for education in order to attract and retain their employees.
