4 ringleaders arrested for causing public unrest in Jamestown

Police arrested four people for allegedly causing public unrest in Jamestown in Accra.

The four leaders namely; Salaami Abubakari, 36, Daniel Opare Oman, 43, Edward Holm, 38, and Daniel Clottey, 41, led dozens of people to block a road in Jamestown by burning car tires, and created panic and the fear .

A statement signed by Deputy Police Commissioner (ACP) Kwesi Ofori, Acting Director General, Public Affairs and copied by Ghana News Agency, said preliminary inquiries suggested the illegal protest was in response to the list widely disseminated by potential metropolitan, municipal and district leaders. Executives (MMDCES).

The statement sent a strong warning to any individual or group of people who intended to illegally assemble and wreak havoc over the publication of the list of potential MMDCEs or any other matter to drop out. immediately such plans or to face the law.

“We urge everyone to use due process to convey their grievances,” the statement read.
