About 11% of structures in Ghana are metal containers or kiosks, the 2021 Population and Housing Census revealed.
A breakdown of the structures indicated that 78.7 percent were conventional structures, 9.7 percent are wooden structures, 8.0 percent are metal containers, 2.8 percent are kiosks and 0.9 percent are “other” structures.
Just over 20 percent of structures in Ghana are classified as unfinished.

Of these structures, 80.2% are fully completed, 12.1% partially completed and 7.7% of the structures without any form of roof.

The Northeast region has the most completed structures with 89.9 percent, while the Central region has the least completed structures with 76.3 percent.
The number of structures with roofs amounts to 9,837,153.
Of the structures in Ghana, 57 percent were used as residences.
Some structures, 2.6 percent, are used for both residential and non-residential purposes, while 40.4 percent of structures are used for non-residential purposes.
The census revealed that the population of Ghana was 30.6 million, including 8,345,414.
Although the number of households in Ghana has quintupled since 1970, when 1.8 million households were registered, the average household size in Ghana has been declining since 2000, while the average household size is at its lowest level. never reached 3.6.
