President Akufo-Addo has been warned by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, not to act on the reports of his appointees without independent verification.
According to the Asantehene, leaders could be misled by trustworthy officials who only give favorable comments.
He therefore urged the President to regularly visit key projects to access first-hand information on the progress of the work.
Asantehene believes that regular visits to the project sites will help the President to keep up to date with precise progress.
Through these visits, appropriate decisions will be made in the interest of the people and the government.
“It is good that the president himself visits the projects. If you listen to people’s reports, they will always deliver positive things to you. But if you visit the projects, you will see the negatives and make the necessary changes, ”he said.
The Asantehene, however, wants the president to ensure the development of the Ashanti region by fulfilling his mandate.
“The Ashanti region has seen some development during your tenure. We trust you to complete the most remarkable, ”he added.
Asantehene’s comments follow a courtesy visit by the president as part of his tour of the Ashanti region.
President Nana Akufo-Addo for his part indicated the government’s commitment to ensure that each region receives its fair share of the national pie.
“We weren’t able to keep all of our promises, but we’re doing fine. In the area of roads, there have been massive improvements. There have been delays at the inner port of Boakra but we have found solutions so we will start soon, ”he said.
As part of the visit, the President inspected the progress of works at Kumasi airport.
The modernization of the airport to international status is 77 percent complete and is expected to be completed by August next year.
Project consultant Nana Ametepe said the existing airport building would be demolished when the new building was completed.
