The DVLA warns drivers “may be able to drive” with dementia, but should contact the DVLA as soon as they are diagnosed.
Motorists who fail to inform the DVLA of medical conditions affecting their driving can be fined up to £ 1,000.
They said it was “difficult to assess driving ability in people with dementia,” but said it was usually assessed using medical reports.
