• 499 additional students obtained the 50% threshold
• They were not among the 790 students who were admitted to the Ghana School of Law

The National Association of Law Students (NALS) reports that 499 students passed the 2021 Law School Entrance Examination, but were denied admission to Ghana Law School.
According to the group in a statement seen by GhanaWeb, the 790 students admitted to the Ghana School of Law represent an almost 25% drop in admissions from the 2020 election year admission.
“NALS notes, in shock, a notice of explanation, in the hand of the director of legal education, explaining the definition of the 50% pass mark used for admission, and a publication of another list.” index numbers with the raw score of the candidates who took the said exam.
“The NALS regrets to note that, contrary to the previous results, some 1289 of the 2824 candidates, representing 45.6%, obtained 50% of the overall mark fixed so far as a passing mark. However, there was a clear and very inexcusable exclusion of some 499 candidates, constituting 39% of the candidates who obtained this 50% and 18% of all the candidates, ”the statement said.
A total of 790 out of 2,824 students, or 28%, passed the 2021 law school entrance exams.
This figure represents a 10% drop from the total number of successful students in 2020. A total of 1045 students passed the 2020 exams.
The failure rate for the entrance exams to the Ghana School of Law has become a topic of national discussion over the years.
In 2019, over 90% of students who took the entrance exam failed to qualify for admission.
The results showed that of the 1,820 candidates who sat for the entrance exams, only 128, representing 7%, passed.
