A dark night is looming Bat girl.
In a post on social media by Bat girl co-director Bilall Fallah, who teams up with creative partner Adil El Arbi (both directors of 2020’s Bad boys for life), the Belgian director teases some of the world’s greatest sleuth for an appearance in Bat girl.
What happened? – In an Instagram story shared on his account, Fallah shared a behind-the-scenes image of himself looking at Batman’s hoodie, specifically the hoodie worn by Ben Affleck in movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
The image alone could just be Fallah having fun in what looks like Warner Bros. offices, as there are also other superhero helmets seen that belong to Wonder Woman, The Flash, and as spotted by fans on Reddit, Riddler’s mask from The Batman. However, fans can’t help but wonder if Affleck’s hood prominence suggests Affleck will appear in Bat girl.

Batgirl Na Na Na, Batgirl! – A Batgirl movie has been in various stages of development since 2017, when now-dishonored director Joss Whedon successfully presented it to Warner Bros. He dropped out in 2018. After the success of Bad boys for lifebox office success Warner Bros. recruited Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah in May 2021 to lead Bat girl with a script by Christina Hodson, who was anchored in the DC Universe with her scripts for Birds of prey and Flash.
Leslie Grace, who starred in the famous adaptation of the Broadway musical In the heights, will wear Batgirl’s cape and hood for the screen.
Bat girl publicly entered development when Ben Affleck publicly questioned his own future in the franchise. Affleck resigned in 2019 to return for Flash in 2022.
The Reverse Analysis – Little is known about the plot of Bat girl and its place in the expanding DC multiverse. While it was previously assumed that the film would take place in the DC Extended Universe, the ongoing evolution of the DC franchise means that Batgirl can be standalone. It could be a different iteration of Batman providing Barbara Gordon with the plans to become Batgirl.
With Fallah’s Instagram post, it’s now more likely that Bat girl will remain in the DCEU and Affleck’s Batman will play a role in the film. Whether Affleck is actually on screen is a mystery, but hey, he wouldn’t be Batman if you could see him all the time.
Bat girl will hit theaters in 2022.
