Ghana’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Gina Blay, said establishing more factories in Ghana is the best way to ensure the industrialization of the local economy.
She said small and medium enterprises are giving way to industrialization.
Madame Blay was commenting on the factories commission by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of the One District One Factory initiative.

His comments after President Akufo-Addo opened seven factories under the 1D1F in just two months.
President Akufo-Addo said his industrialization program was progressing in the country with the commissioning of factories under the 1-District-1-Factory initiative.
Mr. Akufo-Addo also noted that more jobs are being created alongside a stronger economy that creates opportunities for all.

According to the promoters of the project, the establishment of the factory in the northern district of Akuapem will create jobs for the inhabitants, which will help to reduce the rural exodus.
Shoe Fabriek has so far created jobs for one hundred and forty-four (144) people in the district, and is a classic example of the import substitution program implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as part of the 1D1F Initiative. .
President Akufo-Addo congratulated the promoters of the plant, Michael Asare Bediako, Opoku Benson and Salomey Gyamfi, for supporting his administration’s industrial transformation program.
While encouraging Ghanaian institutions, such as schools, to patronize the shoes made in Ghana at this factory, the President expressed his gratitude to the traditional authorities and the people of the community for their unwavering support for the business, and advised workers to do their best to ensure the continued growth of the company.
As of September 2021, 278 1D1F projects were in various stages of implementation under the 1D1F Initiative. Of this number, 104 are currently in operation, 150 are under construction and 24 are in the mobilization stage.
One hundred and sixty-five (165) out of the 278 are new projects representing 60% while 113 companies are existing supported projects, representing 40%.
By promoting the 1D1F initiative, the Akufo-Addo government seeks to address the challenge of youth unemployment, by attracting private sector investment in the development activities of these communities.
Adukrom-Nkurakan road 30% complete
The President also inspected the ongoing work on the reconstruction of the Nkurakan – Adukrom – Trom Junction road. This asphalt road has not experienced major intervention for a very long time, so the road is narrow and in poor condition.
The route was awarded on December 23, 2020 to MM. General Construction & Development Limited, with work commencing July 19, 2023.
It is expected that when the road is completed, it will bring relief to motorists and pedestrians. It will reduce vehicle operating costs and reduce travel time and facilitate the flow of goods and services. It will also serve as an alternative link to Koforidua, the regional capital from Mamfe.
