CAPE TOWN, July 18 (Xinhua) – BRICS media officials on Wednesday held a meeting of the third BRICS Media Forum in Cape Town, South Africa, to explore ways to strengthen cooperation.
Representatives of major media BRICS countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, reflect on the deepening and the expansion of cooperation between BRICS media by mutual learning. Cai Mingzhao, executive chairman of the BRICS Media Forum and chairman of the Xinhua News Agency, said the BRICS cooperation mechanism has entered a new phase of economic, political and interpersonal cooperation as three pillars. The role of the media in strengthening information sharing and people-to-people links and strengthening the BRICS voice in international affairs is becoming more important.
Iqbal Surve, co-chair of the forum and executive chairman of South African independent media, expressed his belief that the forum will open new avenues among BRICS media organizations to deepen cooperation.
The 3rd BRICS Media Forum, with the theme "BRICS Media Cooperation – Fostering a Just and Inclusive World Order", will be held on July 18 and 19.
