NDC flag carrier race; Goosie Tanoh completes his tour in the north

Goosie Tanoh, one of the flag bearers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), recently spent ten days campaigning vigorously in the three northern regions of the country to try to convince delegates to join his message and to ensure their votes.

Goosie Tanoh began his campaign tour in the north of the Upper West region with a visit to places such as West and Central Wa, Damfia Bussie Issa, Nadowli-Kaleo, Nandom, Lambussie, East Sissala and West Sissala, Jirapa, Lawra and also with TEIN-NDC in Wa as well as party leaders, party elders and party officials.

He also visited constituencies considered as combat zones in the Upper East region, such as Yagba-Kubori, Bulsa South and Bulsa North, Central Navrongo, Chiana-Paga, East Bolga and West, Talensi, Central Bawku, Binduri , Garu and Temapane, among others.

The opposition NDC is expected to hold elections in early 2019 to fill the vacant flag-bearer position ahead of Ghana's presidential and legislative elections in 2020. Some 13 aspirants are arguing with more than 300,000 delegates across the country votes before the presidential elections.

The Goosie Tanoh campaign team, led by a progressive NDC group called "Organizing for Ghana", also stormed Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, where it was made in the constituencies of Central Tamale, South and North, as well as in that of Sagnarigu.

The personal popularity of Goosie Tanoh in the three northern regions is not in question, with many party activists testifying to their experience of working with this man who is remembered for having broken with the NDC at some point in time. compel him to reform himself.

Delegates showed overwhelming support and showed their love wherever Mr. Tanoh and his entourage went, delegates from villages, towns and communities gathered to greet him.

He was hailed by party officials, chiefs, executives, regional and constituency officials, who openly supported his candidacy, pledging to campaign day and night for Goosie Tanoh with his own resources.

Throughout his engagements, delegates badured Goosie Tanoh of victory as they were ready to "change the driver of the 2016 NDC", which pushed the party into a ditch by sending the NDC into the opposition after winning the presidential elections of 2008 and 2012.

Hundreds of northern delegates have declared their willingness to vote overwhelmingly for Goosie Tanoh to be the next presidential candidate for the NDC party.

"When JJ Rawlings was in power, Goosie Tanoh worked hard for the party and all the delegates in the Sagnarigu constituency decided unanimously to vote for Goosie Tanoh," said Alhaji Zackaria Abdullah, president of the constituency from Sagnarigu.

Goosie Tanoh, for his part, asked delegates to give him a chance to lead the party and propose the new style of leadership that many supporters of the party and Ghana long for.
