Lung cancer was considered one of the rarest diseases in the early twentieth century (according to the 1912 medical reports). Over the years, the increase in different types of pollutants has aggravated the disease.
Lung cancer: in numbers
According to a study conducted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, lung cancer has been responsible for nearly 1.8 million deaths worldwide. The study also points out that lung cancer is the leading cause of death for both men and women, as well as the leading cause of cancer death among women in 28 countries.
In recent years, factors such as air pollution, smoking, industrial emissions and unhealthy lifestyle choices have led to an increase in the incidence of lung cancer in India. Several factors and practices have increased the incidence of the disease.
Smoking habit
Smoking is one of the major contributors to the progression of lung cancer. Under peer pressure and looking cool, the younger generation is neglecting the harmful effects of smoking. It has become almost impossible to persuade smokers to quit smoking despite an intense campaign against tobacco.

Double trouble
Although smoking increases the possibility of cancer, the possibility of cure decreases considerably compared to non-smokers. In fact, cancer cells are so irritated by the smoke that they lose all their usual identity (technically called receptors), making targeted drug therapy useless. The addition of damage to the lungs and heart reduces their tolerance to treatment, further complicating the effective implementation of treatment procedures.
Pollution & adulteration
Other contributing factors to lung cancer are pollution and adulteration. Initially, eating 4 to 5 fruits / vegetables of different colors each day was a message I was asking people to follow, something I had borrowed from the Japanese lifestyle. But today, we are in a desperate situation. Falsification has added to the risk of cancer. Today, it is best to have access to organic fruits and vegetables to prevent adulteration.
It should be understood that organic products do not look as good as those soaked in chemicals.
Something positive
It's important to go organic. Organic fruit and vegetable manufacturing will not only keep cancer away, but will also help control many lifestyle-related diseases. Of course, the government must play an important role in instituting pollution control measures and adulteration of all kinds.
It's time to prevent lung cancer rather than trying to cure it. Ending smoking, controlling pollution and eating unalted fruits and vegetables are the only way to bring us back to the world of 1912, when lung cancer was a rare disease.
