The four, between 20 and 23 years old
Four people drowned to try to save another person from drowning at Bosomtwe Sam fishing port in Sekondi, in the West region.
The four men, aged 20 to 23, had gone swimming late in the afternoon on Sunday and were returning home when they saw someone drowning.
They jumped to the water in the hope of saving him, but unfortunately drowned, Monday morning Kojo Mensah, an eyewitness, told Connect FM, based in Takoradi.
The person they were trying to save, however, survived and is treated at the regional hospital Effia Nkwanta.
The four, whose bodies were found Monday morning, were identified as Papa Assan, Egya Ackon, Evans and Juju. The bodies are currently at the morgue of the same hospital.
They would all be residents of Ketan, a suburb of Sekondi.
The incident shocked the inhabitants of the region and the metropolis Sekondi / Takoradi in general.
