AC Milan star Giacomo Bonaventura has recently had a knee surgery and is expected to be away for eight to nine months.
Bonaventura was injured earlier this month and was put out of action for a considerable time. The rossoneri have now confirmed that the Italian had undergone an operation in the United States.
A statement posted on the official website of Milan said: "AC Milan announces that Giacomo Bonaventura has been operated on for the osteochondral injury of the left knee.The current procedure for the repair of cartilage, performed in Pittsburgh by surgeons Volker Musahl and Freddie Fu in the presence of AC Milan's medical staff has been successful and the recovery time is estimated at 8/9 months. "
