Do Carabao Cup matches go to penalties after 90 minutes?

Yes. In June, the clubs voted in favor of the suppression of the extra time allocated to League Cup matches from the 2018/19 season.

This means that if a game ends in a draw, it will go directly to penalties.

The EFL said this change would help reduce players' fatigue after the games of the week.

The matches of this competition take place on one leg until the semi-final.

Will the Carabao Cup use the ABBA penalties?

Shots on goal came back to the traditional format, rather than the ABBA penalty format used last season.

ABBA penalties essentially mean that the order of penalties taken in a shootout will be similar to that of the service in a decisive game, the first team taking a penalty, and then both alternately.

Are the Carabao Cup ties seeded?

In another change, the EFL announced that the Carabao Cup seeding system used in the first and second rounds would be removed.

This means that anyone from the South can play at anyone else's and the same goes for the North.

Ties in the third round and beyond will remain unseeded.

Is the VAR used in the Carabao Cup?

VAR is not used in the Premier League this season after clubs have voted against the decision to introduce it.

However, some games of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup will use this technology.
