Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to get rid of the notion of an electoral stronghold, saying that voters now want to vote for a party that they believe could improve their lives.

He told delegates of the National Democratic Congress in Bantama, Kumasi, to stop considering the Bantama district and the Ashanti region in general as the stronghold of the new patriotic party.

Mr. Mahama observed that people are not only voting for the sake of certain parties or political traditions, but also for what they can do to improve their lives.

"So we must remove the notion that some places are bastions of the NPP and that we can not win these places," he said, adding: "What the elector is looking for, it is a good thing. is the party that will govern the country properly and give it a good standard. " as the previous NDC government did ".

He noted that, despite the noble promises made by the NPP in preparing for the 2016 general election, Ghanaians have faced untold hardship after nearly two years in office.

Regarding the number of people fired as a result of the government's stringent economic policies, Mr. Mahama pointed out that it was unlikely that those who lost their jobs would still gather behind the MPN.

This, he said, is because the government has facilitated the collapse of their businesses and their jobs.

Mr. Mahama was of the opinion that with hard work, unity and determination, the CND would be able to win more votes in the Ashanti region in the next general election.

He therefore instructed party members, especially constituency and branch leaders, to help unite the party for victory in the 2020 elections.

Mr Mahama said that when he is elected, he will work hard to create jobs and reduce the high cost of living in the country.

He also promised to help constituencies become homeowners, build a database on the human resource capacity of NDC members and set up a mentoring program for youth in the party.
