Sir Elton John canceled a sold-out American concert – just minutes before he could go on stage – due to an ear infection.
Many fans were sitting at the Amway Center in Orlando Florida when the announcement was made Tuesday night (November 27).
"We are sorry to announce that" due to an ear infection, Elton John is unable to perform tonight, "reads a statement.
"The date reported to Orlando will be announced in the near future, so keep your tickets."
The 71-year-old singer – and star of the latest John Lewis commercial – was scheduled to perform as part of the 300-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour that began in September.
Attendees visited Twitter, many wishing Elton the best to feel better but expressing his annoyance at the cancellation of the show.
Rumors were rife that there was perhaps a bomb threat on the scene, hence the last minute cancellation. The Amway Center responded on Twitter: "There has never been a bomb threat. As we said from the beginning, tonight's show was canceled due to an ear infection. All other explanations are without foundation. "
Sir Elton's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, which would have been his last, had already caused a sensation among fans for the price of his tickets.
Some fans paid up to £ 520 for tickets to the UK part of the tour in 2019 and 2020.
