Why Every Parent and Leader Should Read Gareth Southgate's Plan for Children's Football

Gareth Southgate made English fans dream after an incredible 2018.

The England boss led the country to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia before leading the Three Lions in the last four games of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

But it's not just the senior men's team that the former England international is trying to revolutionize. He also wants to improve the lives of young footballers.

In a new and brilliant initiative launched by the FA, Southgate boss presented his five-point plan to ensure children the best possible education in sport.

Titled & quot; We Only Do Positive & # 39 ;, the handbook for local youth team coaches is a must read for all managers and parents.

In this document, Southgate provides its five positive principles for coaching. They are:

1) Preach by example

2) Instilling an attitude "everything is possible"

3) Understand your players

4) Build a positive team around you

5) Understand your players

Young grbadroots coaches are encouraged to apply these principles to support the development of young players on and off the field.

The book features four coaches from both men's and women's football teams who have successfully put 'We Only Do Positive' into their clubs.

The FA Respect campaign this season coincided with impressive results in junior football across the country. Nine out of ten officials said that behavior on and off the field is a positive experience for players, spectators and coaches.

And the new manual "We Only Do Positive" was launched with a fake press conference in St. George's Park, where the director of England was interviewed by school children aged 8 to 10 years.

"I strongly support the AF mantra," We are only doing the right thing, "because I am convinced that encouragement is essential to youth development," said Southgate.

"As coaches, our job is to help young people build self-confidence." The same goes for parents.

"Youth football has to be a matter of entertainment, so it is so important for children to be encouraged to develop, grow and develop their pbadion for football.

"This should be the priority of all coaches."
