Kyeremateng Agyarko dead Fire Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko

Hundreds of mourners, especially politicians, gather in the Grace Presbyterian congregation in Accra to participate in the week-long commemorative service in honor of the late Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, Kyeremateng Agyarko.

The late Kyeremateng Agyarko died exactly one week ago in a hospital in the United States after a short illness.

President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, Mustapha Hamid, Betty Mold-Iddrisu, Seth Terkper, Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, among other dignitaries, attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was solemn, with most supporters seeming to think deeply about trying to understand how a "gay" man like Agyarko might die.

Boakye Agyarko, brother of the late MP, could not hold back his tears, as he wiped constantly throughout the service.

Members of Parliament who spoke to Ghanaweb on the sidelines shared their fondest memories of Agyarko and the way he was loved by many people both inside and outside of the nuclear plant.

They praised the late legislator as a friendly person who had good relations with all kinds of people, regardless of their social status.

Mustapha Hamid, Minister of Inner City and Zongo Development, recounted how selfless the legislator was and shared how Agyarko helped him get the medicine he needed.

"The last time I had a close interaction with him was when I was looking for a medicine called Provigil and that the doctors had told me that I needed to find Provigil. I did not know where to find it. Instinctively, he was the person I called. You know that he was a pharmacist and so I called him. Apparently he was at Heathrow Airport trying to get on a plane, but he answered my call and told his boss where to find a drug called Provigil. "I'm about to get on a plane, but let me remind you 5 minutes, I'll call you back."

"Under normal circumstances, someone will just continue to get on his plane and forget about you, but 5 minutes later he called and said I had to go to Movenpick's pharmacy or to another pharmacy." from the Osu Photo Club near and that I would get it. I mean, I've been really touched by this kind of gesture and so many people have told me cases where they also asked for his help and that he sacrificed everything, "he said. -he adds.
