Wind equipment supplier Siemens Gamesa has reached an agreement to implement its life extension program for the entire 237.5 MW fleet of an anonymous Spanish customer.
The program consists of monitoring and structural improvements that can extend the availability of wind turbines for the 264 wind turbines in six wind farms in the Aragon region of Spain by 10 years.
"Our company has been responsible for the maintenance of these turbines since their installation and we will now implement improvements to extend their useful life up to the 30th year, adding ten years of revenue," said John Paul Larrañeta, Director of Services at SGRE's Southern Europe and Africa Region.
In addition, Siemens Gamesa will continue to operate these turbines and will provide comprehensive maintenance services.
Life extensions and repowering are a fast-growing market in countries that have introduced wind energy very early, such as Spain and Germany.
