Grand Ole Opry announced a new artist development initiative, Opry NextStage, this will support four emerging talents over the course of a full year. The artists presented will be Travis Denning (Mercury), Riley Green (Big Machine), Tenille Townes (Sony) and Tegan Marie (Warner Music). You can watch an introductory excerpt on the company here:
Opry NextStage follows the popular My Opry Debut series and will begin with the performances of each of the four singers of the Opry in December. The popular show, still airing weekly on WSM, being the oldest radio show in the US, will be relocated temporarily next month to make way for Opry House's annual Christmas show. Meanwhile, the show will come from the Ryman auditorium, where he stayed from 1943 to 1974.
Canadian artist Townes, whose current film is 'Somebody's Daughter', is performing on December 7, prior to his stint on Dierks Bentley in January 2019. Burning Man Tour. Marie, age 15, who recently participated in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and whose message "I know how to make a boy cry" came out on November 1st, will be there December 8th.
Green debuts at Grand Ole Opry on December 11th with his four tracks In a truck right now EP now available. Denning, whose song 'Red, White & Blue' was released in October on Mercury Nashville, follows on 15th. "David Ashley Parker of Powder Springs".
Opry NextStage will chronicle the progress of the four artists in 2019 with live performances, not only at Opry House, but also in venues such as Ole Red, Nashville. A series of documentary videos on young talents, online coverage, radio shows and other topics will also be offered. A launch party will be held at Ole Red on January 8th.
