Dodowa District Hospital
Bloody clashes took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Dodowa District Hospital in the Greater Accra region, following the shootings between ground guards and landowners, which left several injured.
It was after some victims of a fight were taken to the hospital for treatment. The victims were wounded with machetes after a fierce clash between two factions.
While the hospital authorities were treating the wounded, the angry groups then went to the facility to continue their fight.
Dr. Ken Brightson, medical officer of the Dodowa District Hospital, who confirmed the incident at the Citi Breakfast Show, said the scene had become more chaotic when he had insisted that Medical care is provided to some victims in a vehicle taken to the police station to write a statement.
Indeed, the only police officer in the vehicle with the other victims called for reinforcement, and the presence of the team resulted in a fight and gunfire.
"I stopped a car that took some of the victims to save their lives because I have a responsibility to keep them alive before the police report. A policewoman accompanied them to the police station, so they will write their statement. So she had to call for reinforcement. As soon as the team arrived home, the situation became chaotic. They started to fight. Some of the injured victims also participated in the fight.
Trauma
According to Dr. Brighton, recovering patients were traumatized after the chaotic start of several shots.
"In trying to separate the fight, there was a first shot and everyone in the hospital, including the patients, started running around the clock. The incident occurred behind the recovery room. Patients who had had surgery and were resting were therefore worried. When there was a second shot, the confusion was total.
