New Jersey County officials say the measles outbreak is over

Health officials from Ocean County, New Jersey, declared a measles outbreak that officially made 33 people sicker.

Asbury Park Press reports that the Ocean County Health Department said Wednesday that no new cases have been identified in the last 42 days.

Health officials said the epidemic was one of the worst that the state has known for decades. It affected 30 residents of Ocean County and three members of the same family from Pbadaic County.

The Center for Health Education, Medicine and Dentistry announced having administered nearly 3,000 doses of measles vaccine during the epidemic.

Measles is a very contagious disease. Symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, and red and watery eyes.
