President Akufo-Addo exchanges jokes with leaders at the Jubilee House
The traditional ga council on Tuesday called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint an investigative commission to address cheffery issues within the state ga.
They claimed that since the disappearance of Ga Manste, Nii Amugi II, about 14 years ago, Ga State had had trouble finding a replacement, who had become a threat to peace and stability .
The traditional council made this request when its members summoned the president to the Jubilee House in Accra.
Nii Otu Blafo II, spokesman of the Traditional Council, expressed the hope that the President would invoke the provisions of Article 278 of the 1992 Constitution to appoint an investigating commission to determine who The Ga Manste stool would be set up because of the failure of many of the closing attempts by the Chambers of Regional and National Chiefs.
The traditional council also raised the issue of supremacy in the state of Ga, insisting that they did not agree with the decision of the House of Regional Chiefs of to raise only five of the twelve divisional stools to the rank of superiority and called on the president to intervene.
President Akufo-Addo, for his part, said it was astonished that after so many years, the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Chamber of Chiefs was unable to resolve chieftaincy disputes within the state of Ga.
He told the Council that an inquiry commission, as they had requested, would not have the power to declare the fee so that the Judiciary Committee of the Regional Chamber Chiefs could, adding that the law was explicit that any dispute relating to royalty, regarding the right to stool, is dealt with by the Judiciary Committee.
The Chairman badured the Board that he would be in discussions with his legal advisers to address the concerns raised.
"I understand what's behind it. You want a situation where the issue is closed, so that long after we have a party here left, there is an agreement on a document that tells you how and who are eligible for Ga's supremacy. idea is very serious and worthy of consideration, "said President Akufo-Addo.
However, the President indicated that he would be talking with his legal team to determine the merits of their request. He said: "In the end, I am also bound to respect the country's constitution."
"If a particular institution has been identified as responsible for solving the problems, I do not think the president will be right in his power to set it aside and get out of his way," he said.
On the question of priorities for the other seven divisional stools in the State of Ga, President Akufo-Addo wondered why five of the twelve stools had been prioritized and the rest had not been, even after the death of Nii Amugi, who had recommended that all stools appreciated this status.
He badured the Council that he would communicate their concerns to the House of Chiefs of Greater Accra Region in order to obtain compensation.
