It is not surprising that Ford is also producing a 100% electric version of the F-150, as it is one of the most recognizable and best-selling American vehicles. The iconic van represents about a third of the US automaker's sales and has a long history since 1975. It's the perfect model for this project, which seems to be a natural evolution following Ford's investments in the electric vehicle market.
By developing an electric pickup, Ford hopes to be able to keep pace with its competitors. A start-up called Rivian has unveiled its own vision of the category in 2018 and even the very popular Tesla plans to create its own electric van in the coming years.
