The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described as shameful and insensitive the attempts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to politicize the Menzgold saga.

At a press conference in Accra on Thursday, the party's communications director, Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoah, said that politicizing the problem would not solve the problem and would not give any peace to the concerned customers.

Therefore, he called on the NDC to stop politicizing the problem and to "be kind to the people affected".

"Instead of sympathizing with clients who have lost their money through investments and programs run by Menzgold, the NDC is desperately trying to equate it with DKM and insists on the unprecedented position that the government should badume responsibility for private investment, "he said.

His response follows a previous press conference by NDC National Communications Officer Samuel Gyamfi, who said that the NPP was largely responsible for the fate of the gold distribution company. war, which in turn led to the investment of thousands of customers.

However, Mr. Buaben Asamoah expressed an opposing view, claiming that the Menzgold saga was partly a failure of the old NDC administration to exercise due diligence when the company's general manager, Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM 1, allegedly defrauded 53 people. in 2012.

"How is it that they refused to exercise the governmental power under the authority of the state to solve the NAM1 problem once and for all? Or is it because the NDC has everything to gain, as Sammy Gyamfi has made clear in a video widely circulated on social media. Indeed, savvy observers have noted that Ponzi schemes are multiplying when the NDC is in power. R5, Pyram, DKM, Bamask and US Tilapia, "he said.

He noted, however, that the government would work within the confines of the law to ensure that NAM 1 is registered.

"The NPP government is committed to the rule of law and, in this state of law, there are clear distinctions between the powers of the state, the powers of the government and the powers of the president … Menzgold is a problem of NDC. We will take care of it and let the law work. No amount of propaganda will dissuade this government from the NPP, "he said.

PRESS CONFERENCE OF THE NPP FORUM TRUTH

ADDRESS OF YAW BUABEN ASAMOA

Gentlemen the media, thank you for responding to our invitation in such a short time.

As you know, we are obliged to invite you here today to react to the symptoms and, after the effects of a mbadive electoral loss, the NDC suffered in 2016.

Obviously, they did not recover from this electoral event. Since then, all their actions are focused on the attempt to incompetently duplicate our campaign.

We have heard, for example, of the attempt to describe this successful government as a super incompetent government, and when it is asked, all the NDC can say is that because we have qualified them as a government. ; incompetent.

This negative, unproductive and reckless mentality is at the root of the country's largest opposition party. As far as this afternoon, all NDC leaders rallied behind expensive television and radio coverage to tell a lot of political lies about the sad difficulties some citizens face with Menzgold.

Instead of sympathizing with clients who have lost their money through Menzgold-led investments and programs, the NDC is desperately trying to equate it with DKM and insists on the unprecedented position that the government should take responsibility for investments private.

The NDC raises two issues.

This, NAM1 has received celebrity approval.

Ladies and gentlemen, since when have members of the public and local and international stakeholders been prevented from involving democratically elected presidents and their governments?

Does the NDC tell us that, in bed, the photo of President Mahama and gay rights activist Andrew Solomon, acclaimed worldwide, means that John Mahama is gay and John Mahama supports homobaduality?

Needless to say, NAM 1 has publicly visited several prominent people in the country. As a responsible political party, supporting a very focused government, we will not be convinced that civil servants, religious leaders, traditional chiefs and others who, by virtue of their function, are public property deserve Be exploited for political purposes.

The second part of the NDC's empty propaganda statement is: you have to use force, which is not the case.
In presenting this argument, the NDC Communications Officer, supported by all NDC leaders, confused states, governments, regulators, security agencies and the presidency.

The NPP government is committed to the rule of law, and in this state of law there are clear distinctions between the powers of the state, the powers of the government, and the powers of the president.

For clarity of public opinion, the Ghana Police Service established a case in 2012 alleging that 53 people had been defrauded by NAM1. Then it was a security matter, the police and the retired policeman can be questioned about it.

It is therefore clear that the so-called fraudulent operations of NAM1 and its accomplices began in 2013 under the name of MENZBANK and end with K, then with MENZBANC ending with C. For the information of the NDC and its leaders without intelligence, they were in power as a government. in the state of Ghana.

How is it that they refused to exercise the governmental power under the authority of the state to settle once and for all the problem of NAM1? Or is it because the NDC has everything to gain, as Sammy Gyamfi has made clear in a video widely circulated on social media. Indeed, savvy observers have noted that Ponzi schemes are multiplying when the NDC is in power. R5, Pyram, DKM, Bamask, as well as American Tilapia.

On October 28, 2014, the Bank of Ghana, acting as the regulator, discovered, during a special fiscal year in the Central Region, that Menzbank was operating in Kasoa under the guise of trading in the country. And used the name "Bank" illegally.

On March 11, 2015, BOG issued BG / GOV / SEC / 2015/04, in which it published a list of unlicensed entities operating illegally, including Menzbank. Menzbank then changed its name to 'Menzbanc Ghana Company Limited'.

On April 13, 2016, BOG issued a notice warning the public of Menzbanc's deposit taking operations.

On July 22, 2016, BOG wrote to Menzbanc to warn it against its unlicensed deposit taking business.

On August 2, 2016, BOG invited Menzbanc management to a meeting on its unlicensed deposit taking business.

The company responded in writing on August 3, 2016 and stated that it did not participate in the deposit taking activities.

On August 16, 2016, BOG contacted the Minerals Commission and the Precious Minerals Marketing Corporation (PMMC) regarding Menzbanc's license status. The Minerals Commission confirmed that the company only held a license to "buy gold on the spot … and export it". However, his license to PMMC had expired. For the education of the NDC, there were other regulatory activities than those of the president at the time. Unfortunately, there was no word to say.

On February 13, 2017, BOG held another meeting with representatives of the company.

On July 19, 2017, BOG sent a new letter of warning to the company for it to refrain from any further seizure.

Menzbanc then changed its name and now calls Menzgold. It also informed BOG of its subsidiary under the name "Brew Marketing Limited", where customers were asked to buy gold and deposit it with Menzgold to obtain a "dividend". .

BOG conducted additional surveys and three mystery shopping transactions by entering the company's Gold Vault market. During the first purchase, no transaction was found. Menzgold raised the money with the explanation that they would buy the gold from Brew Consult.

In the second case, at maturity, the mystery shoppers received a gold coin.

During the third purchase, mystery shoppers were invited to buy the gold from Brew Marketing Consult and deposit it in their vault where the transaction began.

On September 19, 2017, the Minerals Commission wrote to Menzgold a letter entitled "Unauthorized Commercial Activities", indicating to Menzgold that it was violating the law and the License and that Brew Marketing had not been registered as an authorized purchasing agent.

In June 2018, BOG conducted a joint visit with the Minerals Commission to gold dealers and approved refineries in Accra to understand the nature of their activities.

The team determined that all companies were engaged in gold smelting and exporting, with the exception of Menzgold, which solicited deposits from the general public at 7% to 10% interest. per month to customers based on the amount of gold purchased.

The activities of these regulators since 2017 had bitten and this is what ultimately led to total exposure.

Because when NAM1 stated that it traded gold collectibles, the Securities and Exchange Commission soon began to seek licenses for derivatives trading.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the factual story. Please NDC, be nice to the people affected by this and avoid the false policy, this will not solve the problem and will not give any peace to the people involved.

The behavior of the NDC at this point in the investigation of such a sensitive issue is scandalous to say the least.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Menzgold saga is a problem that we have managed to solve.

We have solved a lot of NDC problems since we arrived. We have eliminated the DKM, the mess in the banking sector, the backlogs, and we continue to eliminate the mess they created.

Menzgold is a problem of NDC. We will take care of it and let the law work. No propaganda will deter the government from NPP.

Thank you.
