Liverpool defenseman Andy Robertson has promised his future to the club by signing a new long – term contract today at Melwood.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Reds 18 months ago from Hull City, signed a new training ground deal to extend his career at Anfield.

Robertson has strengthened his position in the left-back of Jürgen Klopp since his commitment in 2017, with 56 caps in all competitions and one goal.

After helping Liverpool reach the Champions League final last season, No. 26 opened all but two Premier League games this quarter.

"As soon as the club came to see me, it was obvious to me – I want to stay here, so as soon as they put an offer on the table, it was signed as quickly as that", he told Liverpoolfc.com shortly after putting the pen on the paper.

"It was a pretty easy contract for me and I'm sure for the club too. We both agreed very quickly, which is why it was done so quickly.

"Getting to know the boys and working with all Melwood staff was a pleasure. The best thing about work is when you like to come every day – and that's what I do here. I am happy to have extended my stay and hope that we will have many beautiful days ahead of us. "

Robertson, who was named captain of Scotland last September, follows Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Joe Gomez when signing new contracts in Liverpool last year.

And the fan favorite has reiterated the team's attention that their outstanding form in 2018-2019 will become a success by May, with a draw between the Champions League and Bayern Munich next month.

"I hope to succeed as a team during this new agreement," he added. "This club requires trophies and too much time has probably pbaded without trophies.

"So I hope to help win two more trophies in this club and go in that direction because the fans are asking for it and the club demands it, that's what we want to give.

"We are close, of course we have with the Champions League and things like that, but it's all about taking the next step and hoping to win a medal of the winner, whatever the competition. Is the main goal for us. "
