The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a car accident, said Buckingham Palace.
Prince Philip, 97 years old, was not injured in the accident that occurred near the Queen & Sandringham Estate in Norfolk shortly before 15:00 GMT.
Buckingham Palace said the accident involved another vehicle and that the police had gone to the scene.
The Duke was driving a Range Rover and was retiring from an alley leading to the A149 when the accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the car driven by the duke was overturned.
Eyewitnesses reported helping the duke get out of the vehicle. He was conscious but "very very shocked" and shaken, they added.
BBC Royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell added that two people in the other vehicle – a sedan – were being treated for minor injuries, according to information provided by Norfolk police.

The Duke is back in Sandringham and consulted a doctor as a precaution, which confirmed that he was not injured.
The Queen and Prince Philip have been staying in the property since Christmas.

The Duke retired from public life in August 2017.
He retired after decades of supporting the Queen and attending events for his own charities and organizations.
Buckingham Palace calculated that he had completed 22,219 solo engagements since 1952.
Since he's retired, he has participated in public alongside the Queen and other members of the Royal Family at various events.
He did not attend the Christmas service of the Royal Family in Sandringham this year.
