After debuting with the new collaborative song "Mile High" featuring rappers Travis Scott and Metro Boomin at the Zane Lowe's Beats1 concert this morning, singer and electronic producer James Blake presents us with another new single, "Lullaby For My Insomniac ", taken from his highly anticipated album Assume shape outside tomorrow (18 January).
Both tracks display the wide range of styles and influences found on this ambitious and eclectic album.
While 'Mile High' represents the most hip-hop trends on the album, 'Lullaby For My Insomniac' bows more in the moody and atmospheric landscape in which Blake is best known.
The Grammy nominated multiple and the Mercury Prize have spent most of his career in a solo space, creating lush environments that he occupies alone, but in recent years he has found his voice through collaboration , working with many-heavy hitter hitters and continuing this trend on Assume shape.
Scott and Boomin are just some of the special guests featured on Blake's fourth album. The producer has also recruited André 3000's talent at Outkast, alongside his falsetto compatriot Moses Sumney and emerging Latin star Rosalía.
Meanwhile, critics for Assume shape are already starting to roll in, with The Guardian describing 'I'm going to come' as "the kind of songs that Harry Nilsson wrote when he felt inspired by the pop of the pre-rock 'r'roll era. "
