Hughton rejects Ince's assessment of Solskjaer's record start

REUTERS: Chris Hughton, boss of Brighton and Hove Albion, congratulated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his starting record at Manchester United, refuting Paul Ince's badertion that "anybody" could have improved the shape of the club after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

Since he replaced the Portuguese in December, Solskjaer has won his first six games as United's manager, a record for the club. Hughton said the Norwegian deserved credit for changing the game at Old Trafford.

The former United United midfielder, Ince, said in comments posted earlier this week by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power that he "could have done the same thing" because "nothing could go to Manchester United before the departure of Jose Mourinho ".

"I do not think anybody could have come in and the record (Solskjaer) is now," Hughton said before the Premier League move to United on Saturday. "I think you have to thank him for that.

"No matter how he did that, and I do not know how, he has results."

Hughton was in the stands when United beat Tottenham Hotspur, third in scoring, 1-0 at Wembley Stadium last Sunday. He was impressed by the style of play played by his new boss.

"By seeing their recent games, they are playing in a way that shows the quality and pace of their team and they seem to be able to score goals," he added.

"They're aggressive in the way they put pressure, so they're in great shape right now, which makes it harder for us."
