Cameroon and Nigeria to collaborate on anti-transplant campaign | Social

Cameroon and Nigeria have begun to look for ways to collaborate in the fight against corruption in both countries, according to officials of the anti-corruption body in Cameroon.

Officials from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria, the anti-corruption agency, met Wednesday in Yaoundé to set the guidelines for this collaboration .

"Our coming here should help to better understand relations, the exchange of ideas and information," Mohammed Abba Umar, director of operations at EFCC, told reporters.

"The corruption does not concern a country but all the countries of Africa and we appreciate the cooperation between Cameroon and Nigeria," said the CONAC president, Dieudonné Mbadi Gams.

Illicit fund transfers within Cameroon's borders with Nigeria are on the rise and there is an urgent need to locate funds and arrest offenders, officials said.

"Joint operations can help us recover a lot of looted funds," Umar said.

This collaboration is the first of its kind between the two countries.
