Gonzalo Higuain should choose Chelsea rather than Tottenham for two simple reasons, Maurizio Sarri and silver, according to Tim Sherwood, former player and director of the Spurs.
Higuain is about to get a loan from Juventus to Chelsea and find his former boss of Napoli, Sarri.
It was in his first season as coach of Chelsea in Naples in 2015-2016 that the former Real Madrid striker scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games to ensure a transfer of 75 million pounds to the Bianconeri.
Harry Kane's ankle injury – he's missing until March – means the Spurs have a void to fill.
But while Sherwood admitted that club supporters would wonder why a rival offer was not made to the Argentine international, he suggested that the chances of attracting Higuain in North London were thin.
"It's not the attraction, Sarri is the key to everything," Sherwood told Sky Sports.
"He will play for a manager with whom he played his best football.
"There will be a lot of Tottenham fans on the ground" Why are not we going to get it? We have just lost our striker for 11 games. "
"In their eyes, they will say," We are better than Chelsea, why did not he come to us? Why did not we push to get him? ".
"Two reasons: the manager and the finances. [Sarri is] the biggest, mbadively.
"When we are a player, when we want to play for someone, we look at the club but we also look at the manager.
"This manager, does he love you? Has he ever had it?
"If he does, he checks all the boxes for Sarri.
"He knows everything about Higuain and Higuain knows everything about Sarri.
"It was perfect before in Napoli and now it will be perfect again."
