Ambrosia is a start-up offering "young blood" to people who are not "young". This blood is supposed to make you awesome again! Like before your blood has everything old! Only problem being the scientists who conducted the study say that it is dangerous.
Apparently, people are queuing to get the blood of young people.
Internal business community:
Does young blood hold the keys to a long and healthy life? Jesse Karmazin, the founder of a start-up and a graduate of Stanford Medical, believes that this might be the case. He therefore launched a startup called Ambrosia Medical that fills the veins of the elderly with fresh blood from young donors.
But researchers studying the procedure believe that it poses major risks to patients, including a high risk of developing several serious diseases later in life, such as graft-versus-host disease, that may occur when transfused blood cells attack the patient's cells, and pulmonary injury badociated with the transfusion.
Irina and Michael Conboy, two researchers from the University of California at Berkeley who have published research on young blood transfusions in mice, have described Ambrosia's plans as "dangerous."
"They could most likely inflict bodily harm," Irina Conboy told Business Insider.
The Conboys' concern comes from the awareness of what is happening in the body when it receives foreign blood from a donor.
"It is well known in the medical community – and that's also why we do not do transfusions often – that in 50% of patients there are very bad side effects. somebody else's blood and that does not happen. " match, "said Conboy." This triggers a strong immune response. "
Karmazin told Business Insider that Conboys' statements "are not corroborated by data or clinical experience."
