Head of the Abudu family in Dagbang, Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu approved the selection of Naa Abukari Mahama as the new Yaa-Naa.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Abdul Karim Naatogmah, shortly after the decision was made, he described the move as a beacon of peace and blessings for the traditional Dagbang area.

He urged all the sons and daughters of the Abudu family to remain calm and rally their support for the new Yaa-Naa.

According to the Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu, Dagbang exceeds the interest of all individuals, hence the need for all Dagombas to worship the Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama as a new king.

He prayed for Allah's mercy and forgiveness for all the Dagombas who could have lost their lives or their livelihood because of the long-running conflict that severely divided the power of the chieftaincy and which deeply divided Dagbang between Abudu and Andani.

The Boling-Lana government also congratulated the government and the mediation committee of Asantehene, head of the commission, for having successfully completed the impbade in which the chieftainship was located between the two. royals in Dagbang.

He singularly praised the Northern Regional Security Council, chaired by President Salifu Sae-ed, for demonstrating exemplary leadership before, during and after the funerals of the last two Yaa-Naas, Mahamudu Abdulai IV and Yakubu Andani II.

The Boling-Lana and Kampakuya-Naa are expected to be provided with doors allowing the Dagbang Namship to return to its rotation changes.

Appointment of Chief Savelugu

Guardians of Dagbon traditions led by Gushei Naa and Kugnaa appointed Savulugu chief to succeed Ya Naa Yakubu Andani II, who died in 2002. Savulugu chief Yoo Naa Abubakar is head of the Andani royal family in Dagbon . .

The nomination conforms to the customs and traditions of succession to Dagbon royalty.

The decision of the traditional selection board is also consistent with the Dagbon Constitution of 1930 and the Supreme Court decision of December 1986.

In 1986, the Supreme Court ruled that only the occupants of the Mion, Karaga and Savulugu gates were eligible to contest the Dagbon Kingship. The decision of the Supreme Court also banned the rulers of the late Ya Naa's from fighting over Yendi's name.

Dagbon was engulfed in a protracted conflict between leaders, which caused several deaths and destroyed properties.

President Kufour's government formed the Otumfou committee of eminent chiefs, who used customary mechanisms to solve the problem.

The committee finally succeeded in getting the royal families Abudu and Andani to commit to the roadmap for peace in Dagbon. This led to the celebration of the funeral of the late Ya Naas, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai and Naa Yakubu Andani.

The coronation of the new Ya-Naa begins as soon as possible.
