Jose Mourinho has been to Ghana at least twice in recent years
Ghana recently decided to empower and appoint local officials for the various national teams, as former Manchester United director Jose Mourinho advised the Ghanaian government to do so. That's what the chairman of the standardization committee of the Ghana federation, Mr. Kofi Amoah, said.
In his latest revelation, the President of the Ghana FA, said that at a private meeting between the former director of Real Madrid and the former president of Ghana, JA Kufuor, the Portuguese official had urged the country of West Africa to draw attention to its local coaches.
In an interview with Adom TV, Dr. Amoah revealed that the idea of the former boss of Chelsea was the one that had been accepted by the four-time champion of Africa, from where. the return of Kwasi Appiah as a team coach.
"I brought Mourinho to President Kufour when I invited him to Ghana in 2008. He became my friend thanks to Michael Essien," he revealed.
"When Mourinho met with the president of the country at the time, he asked why we did not use our own coaches but hired expatriate coaches who can not even get a job in Europe.
"Our coaches can do the job and we need to empower them," he added.
Dr. Amoah made this revelation when he called for Kwasi Appiah's support before the 2019 AFCON conference to be held in Egypt.
